Bla-Translation
AI – Reaching for Relevance and Respect
At a time of significant technological developments in our profession, Alun’s presentation will remind us of the importance of respecting the strength and depth of knowledge of the trained translator, arguing that the emotion and richness of language can only be adequately conveyed by the human linguist.
About Alun
Alun was born and raised in Anglesey north Wales and graduated in archaeology from the University of Leicester. He worked as a field archaeologist before switching to museum curatorship and led Anglesey’s Museums and Arts service for many years, before spending six years as head of the communications and education department of Snowdonia National Park. During this time, Alun also privately completed academic and vocational Welsh translation qualifications, eventually stepping into the linguistic sector full-time when the time was right, setting up his own translation business, Bla Translation in 2013. Today, Bla is one of Wales’ leading translation companies and won the ATC Company of the Year in 2023.
