Klaus studied translation and IT in Vienna, holds an MA in Conference Interpreting from Monterey, California, and a MAS in Technical Communication Krems, Austria. In 1996, he founded Austria-based Kaleidoscope, a company implementing content, translation, and terminology management processes for internationally active companies. In 2007, he became CEO of Austria´s leading LSP, eurocom Translation Services GmbH. Always active in the industry, Klaus got voted into the Gala Board of Directors in 2015.

Leena Peltomaa

Leena studied literature and German philology at the University of Helsinki. Since 2001, she has worked in the language services industry as a translator, project manager and customer service director. For the past five years, Leena has been a member of AAC Global’s management team, and since beginning of 2016, a partner.Her special interests include customer experience, account management and delivery processes, as well as the concept of quality in translation. Leena is currently a member of the Board at Kites.

Salvo started his professional career as an Italian-English-Italian freelance translator and is now head of Global Content & Technology @ PayPal.Previously he held the roles of: Senior Director Localization Engineering at Yahoo!Salvo holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Palermo (Italy), where he later was a visiting professor, teaching localization. Salvo is a published author on the topics of globalization, localization project management, international product management, formulaic sequences, translation studies and translation memory systems.Salvo is a Board Member @Translators without Borders, providing access to knowledge via humanitarian translations; and a Board Member @Mosaicoon, a video marketplace.

Pirkko is born in Finland and came to Sweden in 1980. She is Authorised Interpreter and Translator in Finnish and Spanish, specialising in Healthcare Interpreting, as well as Authorised Translator from Finnish into Swedish.She is the founder and co-owner of Språkservice Sverige AB, Head of Business Development for interpreting services, as well as Senior Advisor. Språkservice Sverige AB was founded by Pirkko in 1995 together with her husband Antonijo Trpevski and brother-in-law Lenart Trpevski. The company is currently the leading provider of interpreting and translation services in Sweden, mainly servicing the public sector.Pirkko is also Committee Member of the industry organisation The Association of Swedish Language Service Providers, Språkföretagen.

Robert is currently Head of Translation Innovation at Semantix, the leading language company in the Nordics. A part of the industry for 30 years, Robert has worked with every aspect of it, from freelance translation to top management and everything in between. Always active in the community, Robert was co-founder of the Word Management Group (1996), the TextMinded Group (2007), and the Nordic CAT Group (2011). He served four years (2013-2016) on the Board of GALA (two as Chairman), and is currently a board member at LT-Innovate. The power of sharing, innovation and a passion for language: these are what still get him out of bed in the morning!

She is exploring and experimenting with lean thinking, creative problem-solving and innovative ideation through intensive facilitation and project management work. Katerina is the Director of the Cognitive Systems Research Institute, a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing, ATHENA Research Center and a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Plymouth, U.K. Her research is focused on the computational integration of language, perception and action based on experimental findings from neuroscience. Katerina holds a BA in Linguistics (University of Athens, Greece), an MSc in Machine Translation (UMIST, UK) and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (University of Sheffield, U.K.) in which she explored the integration of vision and language within artificial agents engaged in everyday interaction. She is a Senior IEEE Member, the vice-chair of the European Network on Vision and Language Integration, and co-editor of the Language and Cognition Research Topic in Frontiers in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

Following studies in mathematics (Patras) and translation (Surrey), Yannis worked for a number of years as a lead linguist for large players in the localization industry. At one point, though, he decided to try to address one of the biggest automation challenges in the industry head on. In early 2016 he co-founded lexiQA, a new technology start-up specialising in linguistic quality assurance in the cloud. As lexiQA's CEO, he is now involved mainly with business development, product design and front-end development.

Linda is a real-time illustrator that visualises seminar presentations and corporate strategies into neat little mindmap-like thingies, sketch notes. She operates either from the depths of her home cave doing illustrations on demand or by attending various events - with her iPad all ready for some doodling action. Linda has a funny little secret: in her previous life, she used to be a language teacher. That made her draw dark comics about the mundane life of a Swedish teacher. Those comics got shared in social media and that’s how it all started. Later on, she got bored in meetings and discovered the joys of taking visual notes. Nowadays Linda travels around Finland doing sketch notes in conferences and seminars as a full-time entrepreneur.

Umit is also an adjunct professor at Yasar University teaching interpreting and technical writing classes. He has been an early adopter of several remote interpreting platforms; tested many and uses a few on a regular basis.

Prior to joining KUDO, Ewandro was Chief Interpreter of a United Nations agency in Geneva, where he helped implement a groundbreaking system of multilingual remote participation. A prolific writer, trainer and speaker with a strong social media following, he has become a trend-setter among his peers. Ewandro has a Master’s Degree in Conference Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He lives in New York with his family, and speaks four languages in addition to his native Portuguese.
